Two-stage compressors are designed to operate at the high input pressures that JT Dryers require. Single-stage and screw compressors cannot achieve these pressures.

JT Dryers use the Joule-Thomson effect whereby a gas that is expanded becomes very cold. Since cold air cannot carry moisture the way hot air can, both liquid water and water vapor condense out of the air stream. Removed water is collected in the bottom of the dryer and periodically drained.

Yes! JT Dryers produce the same overall performance as Freon-based dryers because we use the same basic method to dry air - cooling the air stream until water it carries condenses out.

In general, JT Dryers are sized as follows: JT-20 for 3 to 5 HP compressors. JT-40 for 7.5 to 10 HP compressors. JT-80 for 15 to 20 HP compressors. JT-120 for 25 to 30 HP compressors.
